Actor Andrew Koenig -- best known for his role as Kirk Cameron's pal Boner on the '80s sitcom Growing Pains -- was found dead Thursday in Vancouver, B.C.
At a press conference attended by Koenig's family Thursday evening, police said the actor's body was discovered "in a densely wood area ... unseen from the path" by "family and friends who initiated their own private search." (His father, Star Trek actor Walter Koenig, was among the people who joined in on the search.)
Foul play is not suspected.
"My son took his own life," his father Walter told reporters, adding that his son had been battling depression.
"Don't ignore it; don't rationalize it," he said in regards to depression. "Extend a hand."
That was up here where we live- not too far off, as Vancouver is about 30-45 minutes from us. Such a terrible tragedy. I extend my thougths to the family.

My Mom had some medical tests today ...the scopes...luckily...they were all good and nothing was found.
It has been a year this week that I last saw the man I dated for 5 years...Friday is his birthday.
I found out yesterday that two of the tenure track faculty that I work with on the extended campuses...will not be rehired. They have a year to find another position. WOW. They did not publish the required two articles. In one respect I am glad I am not tenure track for this reason. In another, it makes me wonder what will happen to me in the future as I am professional staff....who teaches. I guess only time will tell.
I have been enjoying chatting and flirting with new guys from a dating site where I placed an ad. The bad thing is....most of them live out of state. Sigh...but.....I figure eventually I will find someone in state or willing to move here. No, I am not willing to move. My career, reputation, family, friends, and community involvement is here.
Regardless, it is fun to be ....flirting and feeling attractive to the male species again.
Am so over the snow this winter and ready for spring. But there is snow in the forecast again for this week. Dang it.
My birthday is in a week and a half. I will be 46. WOW. Hard to believe that I will be that old. In my head, I am not that old. I am young and still excited to see a sunset over the mountains, to see the cardinal perched in the tree, to smell the roses on the warm breeze and think it is all magical and just for me.
And too old to be able to do the things I want to do in my head and heart.
Looks like Kay is about to become the sacrificial rat after all...LMAO

I got caught in the snow on the way home. Talk about white knuckles....there was a time where I could barely make out the road but could not tell where on the road I was.
So...thankfully the rumble strip in the emergency lane was not full...I put my tires on it and stayed there until I could see tracks again.
Really thankful I made it home ok. If I had realized just how bad it was......Rat would have had a visitor for the night.
After all.....SHE wanted SNOW. YES I SAW THE SNOW VOODOO DOLL being hidden.. :)
okay, LAST year, I got all the snow, and you guysd hardly got any....now this year the Atlantic coast and you guys are buried and I got NOTHING??? WTF?
I never met anyone who liked em....well there was this one person but that's a long story and your poorly so instead I'll just say, I hope you feel better soon *hugs*
